Great and Friendly Service
By Jlynn01 from Canfield, Ohio | December 19, 2014

I recently purchased a vehicle from Haus Auto Group. Everyone was extremely friendly. I never felt pressured to make the purchase. I have bought other veichles from different dealers but I felt the most comfortable purchasing this car from Haus. I have been telling my friends and family if they are looking for a veichle that I highly recommend Haus Auto Group.

Another great experience, the second time around
By V.N. from Youngstown, OH | December 22, 2014

Referred my boyfriend to purchase a vehicle from Haus a couple months after purchasing mine. We received the same excellent treatment as we did the first time around. He was able to trade his car in and leave with something beautiful. Our salesman Jerry made sure he did everything in his power to ensure my boyfriend to get the vehicle he wanted and of course he kept his promise and made that happen. Jerry was my salesman as well for my vehicle purchase and he is a great sales man indeed. He is honest and really will work with you and do everything in his power to ensure you leave happy. I see us getting future cars from Haus and hopefully still from Jerry in the future. It's a great dealership I would recommend anybody to get a vehicle from there.

The Great Portugese Barn Find hoax debunked but still going strong

We receive a lot of tips here at Autoblog. Some implore us to check out camera shots of an Audi R8 spotted in Santa Monica, others relay breaking news in the industry, and still more are just personal rants about the state of all things four-wheeled. And then there are the tips we get about the Great Portuguese Barn Find.

Hundreds of tips about this amazing discovery have been pouring in for months. They all have in common the story of a New Yorker's retirement gift to himself – a house on a few acres in Portugal. The house he found had been vacant for 15 years, the owners having passed away leaving no heirs. The property was being sold to pay back taxes owed, and besides the house, there was also a large metal barn on the land with its doors welded shut. Nobody took the time to see what was inside, so the property was sold as is. When the new owner and his wife arrived, they got to work opening up the barn and found - the barn find of the millennium. Inside the structure sat around 200 dusty classic cars. What an unbelievable bit of luck for the new owner!

Follow the jump for the real story.

[Source: Old Cars Weekly]
And we do mean unbelievable. Of course the whole thing was a net hoax, but some people still want to believe it is true, and so the story continues to circulate. After all, there's a whole gallery of dusty classics sitting in a dark warehouse that's pretty compelling. How could it be a lie?

Old Cars Weekly
just tracked down the story behind the story, and the real explanation is almost as good as the hoax. What we are actually seeing in those pictures is the collection of an automobile dealer who over the years has added many vehicles that caught his fancy. He just drove them to the barn and parked them there, presumably waiting until he decided what to do with the lot of them next. About a year ago he sent in a photographer to document the collection, and those pics are the ones circulating the internet, helping to create and sustain this myth. So now you know the truth behind the Great Portugal Barn Find, and you all can stop sending us tips to cover it. Okay?

GM recalls nearly 52,000 SUVs for inaccurate fuel gauge

WASHINGTON |

Photo

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - General Motors Co (GM.N) is recalling 51,640 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia SUVs of the 2014 model year because faulty software may cause the fuel gauge to read inaccurately, U.S. regulators said on Saturday.

"An inaccurate fuel gauge may result in the vehicle unexpectedly running out of fuel and stalling, increasing the risk of a crash," the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on its website.

GM said in a letter to NHTSA the fuel gauge reading could be off by as much as one-quarter of a tank. To fix the problem, GM dealers will reprogram the vehicles' engine control modules.

GM has recalled about 7 million vehicles this year, including 2.6 million Chevrolet Cobalts, Saturn Ions and other models for faulty ignition switches that are linked to at least 13 deaths.

The automaker is under investigation by NHTSA, Congress, the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission for waiting until February to begin ordering the ignition switch recall, despite first learning of the defect more than 10 years ago.

Consumer Will See Bigger Saving In Buying Used Cars Because Used Cars Are Going to Keep Getting Cheaper and Cheaper

The news isn’t all good for consumers, however. A decrease in used-car prices also means that drivers  that buy new will get less for there used vehicles they’re trading in or selling. That shiny new car you purchase is likely to lose its value more quickly than it would have in the recent past.

The number of off-lease used cars for sale is expected to jump to 2.5 million next year as new vehicle leases have picked up after a drop during the Great Recession and cars are now lasting longer

One after-effect of the Great Recession is on display now at car dealerships—where there are more and more used cars for sale, at increasingly lower prices.

The used car market has gone a bit haywire over the last half-dozen years. During the height of the Great Recession, new auto sales of all shapes, sizes, and variations tanked. As a result of relatively few new cars being purchased, there were fewer used cars on the market during the years that followed—years when the economy was still struggling, when demand for cheap vehicles was understandably high, and when used car prices soared because there weren’t enough pre-owned vehicles for sale to keep up with demand. Signs of asoftening in used car pricesbegan appearing around 2012, and now and in the years to come, consumers can expect better pricing and a more robust selection of most models.

In particular, a trend that’s stretched for several years in the lease market will soon result in a “used-car flood” at auto dealerships, asAutomotive News put it. Leasing, which slumped during the peak recession years, has rebounded considerably lately. In 2009, according toEdmunds.com, consumers scooped up only 1.5 million or so new cars via three-year lease, down from nearly 2 million the year before. Fast-forward three years after that low for leasing, and in 2012 there were only about 1.5 million off-lease used cars hitting the market—an exceptionally small number compared to the high of 3.4 million in 2002, per theManheim Used Car Market report.

Because the pace of used-car leases has picked up each year after 2009, so too have the ranks of used cars going up for sale three years later, when the lease terms are up. This year, roughly 2.1 million off-lease vehicles will be back on the market, up from 1.7 million in 2013. Next year, the number of off-lease used cars for sale should swell to 2.5 million, and in 2016 and for the foreseeable future, Manheim predicts that there will be more than 3 million off-lease vehicles returning to the market annually.

Add in the fact that cars have increasingly longer life spans, and we’re seeing an across-the-board rise in supply of used cars—and the increasing supply is projected to translate to lower prices. Earlier this year, Edmunds.com forecast that used-car prices would slide 2% in 2014, and perhaps further down the road as a result of leasing trends. “Many car shoppers might not realize how much the new- and used-car markets feed off each other,” explained Edmunds.com Sr. Consumer Advice Editor Philip Reed. “The boom in new car leases, for example, is leading to a higher number of lease returns, which adds to the growing inventory of used cars, forcing their prices down from the looks of things, it’ll be a buyer’s market for quite some time.

119K Toyota Avalon sedans recalled over airbag woes

2003 Toyota Avalon

Toyota has issued a voluntary safety recall for 119,000 2003-2004 Avalon models because in some cases the airbags could inadvertently deploy.

The automaker says that circuits within the airbag control module could be damaged by electrical noise, which could cause the front airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners to activate. Dealers are going to repair cars by adding an electrical noise filter to the module. Owners will be notified by first class mail.

Toyota Public Affairs Manager Cindy Knight told Autoblogthat there was one reported injury caused by the sudden deployment, but there have been no accidents or crashes. The company is currently preparing the parts for dealers now, and the component takes 90 minutes to two hours to install. "We don't believe there are any other affected models," said Knight.

Toyota previously recalled 373,000 2000-2004 Avalons in 2010 due to a fault with the steering lock. The company installed a new steering column bracket on the models.

GM recalls 778,000 cars for faulty ignition

GM recalls 778,000 cars for faulty ignition

General Motors announced a recall of about 780,000 vehicles in North America due to faulty ignition switches that can cause the engine to shut off unexpectedly.

GM said Thursday that Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 cars made between 2005 to 2007 are being recalled in the U.S., Canada and Mexico to replace the switches.

  • In addition to turning off the engine unintentionally, the switch defect can also shut off the electrical components in the car that activate the airbags.

There have been 22 crashes where the airbags did not deploy, according to GM, including five crashes that caused six front-seat fatalities.

GM said that the switch tends to shut off accidentally when the car is driving off-road or experiencing "some other jarring event."

Related: Toyota recalls 2.1 Prius and other vehicles

The automaker added that all of the fatal crashes "occurred off road and at high speeds, where the probability of serious or fatal injuries was high regardless of airbag deployment. In addition, failure to wear seat belts and alcohol use were factors in some of these cases."
