East Palestine Fire Gets 100K Grant

The East Palestine Fire Department in Columbiana County has been awarded a federal grant for equipment and operations.

Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown announced Wednesday the department will receive $104,211 from the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency. The money is part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.

“Our first responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio,” said Brown. “These funds ensure that firefighters in East Palestine have the resources they need to perform their jobs safely.” The Assistance to Firefighters Grants program helps firefighters and other first responders purchase protective equipment, vehicles, and gear
